Ryan Light is an Austin-based filmmaker, camera operator, editor, and drone pilot. With over three decades in Austin, he finds endless inspiration in the city’s landscapes and evolving skyline. His professional portfolio includes collaborations with brands like National Geographic, ESPN, FOX Sports and CNN. Ryan has also contributed as a drone operator on scripted Televisons series, including Fear the Walking Dead, Love and Death, Long Road Home, Treehouse Masters, and Wrecked. His work blends technical skill with a passion for storytelling.

Awards

In 2018, while working with HeliVideo Productions, we were honored to receive a Technology & Engineering Emmy Award for our groundbreaking work in drone cinematography. This recognition specifically highlighted our development of a low-latency, remote-controlled airborne video platform for television production. HeliVideo was also among the first companies to commercially operate drones in the United States, paving the way for innovation in aerial filmmaking.
